I am a Consultant Hip and Knee Surgeon, with a particular interest in primary and revision surgery and arthroscopic surgery of the hip and knee.
I carry out a wide range of specialist procedures including robotic joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee. In addition to total joint replacement of the hip and knee, I also perform partial knee joint replacement and revision joint replacements of the hip and knee. I carry out hip joint injections, stem cell therapy, hip and knee arthroscopy and hip labral reconstruction.
I am heavily involved in teaching of hip arthroscopy technique to consultants and trainees nationally. Additionally, my clinical data is submitted to the national hip and knee joint registry and to the non-arthroplasty hip surgery register.
I qualified from the University of Manchester in 1994. I underwent basic medical training in Manchester and subsequently undertook my specialist training in orthopaedic surgery on the Merseyside Specialist Training Rotation. I completed sub-specialist training at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, USA and at Wrightington Hospital in Wigan.
On completion of my training, I was appointed as the Cavendish Hip Fellow and Clinical Lecturer in Orthopaedics at Sheffield University and Sheffield Northern General Hospital. Following this additional sub speciality training year, I was appointed as a consultant at Wrightington Hospital in 2004, subspecialising in hip and knee surgery.
