Nerve decompression/release (neurolysis)

What is it?

Nerve decompression is a surgical procedure used to treat a compressed or irritated nerve.

Diagnosis and treatment options

During surgery, your surgeon will release the compressed nerve by either removing the material pressing on the nerve or opening up any narrow spaces to give the nerve more room. The exact procedure will depend on the affected nerve.
