Patient information

As a patient at the OrthTeam Centre, you can expect world-class expertise combined with state-of-the-art diagnostics. All of our OrthTeam consultants work together to provide an integrated, multidisciplinary team approach which ensures outstanding, personalised patient care.

Your feedback is important to us

Here at the OrthTeam Centre we value your comments and feedback. Tell us about your outpatient appointment experience.

Initial consultation

Our highly experienced consultants are here to listen, answer any questions and fully explain the treatment or procedure you may require. We offer specialist care and ensure that you will have the same consultant looking after you throughout your journey.

At your first appointment with your chosen specialist, they will record detailed information about your symptoms and conduct a physical examination. The length of consultation times vary depending on your requirements.

We sometimes need to carry out further tests on the same day or we may ask you to come back on another day. Your consultant will always fully explain why we need to do any extra tests, what is involved and any associated costs.

Diagnostic imaging examinations

There are several different types of scans used to investigate musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, including X-rays, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

At the OrthTeam Centre, our patients benefit from having access to state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment in one convenient location. Our Siemens equipment comes with the latest software that enables rapid imaging in a comfortable and relaxing environment.

Depending on the imaging needed and your requirements, we have availability for same day diagnostic imaging or on an alternative more convenient day of your choice.

A consultant radiologist will interpret your scan and provide a report for your consultant. Your consultant will then discuss the results with you at your follow-up appointment.

We welcomed more than 6,000 patients to the OrthTeam Centre in 2020

Follow-up consultation

You will require a follow-up appointment if you have had additional diagnostic tests, such as an MRI or ultrasound scan, where your specialist will go through the results with you.

Your specialist will recommend the most appropriate treatment for your condition; this may include further tests or an onward referral to another healthcare professional such as a physiotherapist.

You can book your follow-up consultation on the day of your initial appointment or you can call us to arrange a consultation at a later date.

Treatment

Non-operative

Surgery is always the last option and our specialists are highly trained and have access to a variety of treatments which enable many of our patients to achieve excellent results, without the need for an operation.

As our consultants are part of a multidisciplinary team who all work closely with each other, they may refer you to one of our other experts depending on your requirements, these specialties include sport and exercise medicine, pain management and physiotherapy.

Surgery

If you do need an operation, our surgeons use the most current and pioneering techniques and this can be performed at Spire Manchester Hospital, which is conveniently located on the same site as the OrthTeam Centre.

Your consultant will give you full details beforehand about what it will involve and how you may need to prepare for it. They will also discuss what to expect afterwards including any physiotherapy and aftercare you may be required to undertake.

Paying for your own treatment

If you are paying for your own treatment, you can book an appointment via a consultant’s profile page, or call us on 0161 447 6888.

Insured appointments

If you’re using your health insurance to pay for treatment, simply visit your GP and ask them to refer you to a consultant who practises at the OrthTeam Centre. You can also do this via a Private GP. Please ensure that you have contacted your insurance company, to check that you are covered for your condition, before attending your first appointment. Your insurance company should provide you with an authorisation code, please bring this with you to your first appointment.

Please bring a debit or credit card to your appointment as you'll be asked for a swipe of this when you register. This is to cover any insurance excess or shortfall your insurer is not liable to pay such as for sundry items. Your details will be kept securely for up to six months and we will notify you in advance if it’s necessary to use them.
