Mr Sanjay Anand

Consultant Knee Surgeon

I'm a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises exclusively in knee surgery.

My practice covers all aspects of knee surgery including:

  • Cruciate and collateral ligament injuries
  • Cartilage and meniscal regeneration/replacement
  • Kneecap problems (pain and instability)
  • Osteotomy (realignment) of the knee joint
  • Total and partial knee replacement

I look after amateur and professional athletes from a variety of sports clubs including football, rugby, netball, hockey and motocross as well as receiving tertiary referrals from consultant colleagues with complex knee problems.

I've developed a particular interest in osteotomies around the knee, treatment of early cartilage damage/osteoarthritis in the young patient and management of fat pad problems/anterior knee pain. I also receive a number of referrals for paediatric knee problems, in particular cartilage problems such as osteochondritis dissecans.

My research interests are in stem cells for treating cartilage injuries, tissue regeneration and prevention of osteoarthritis. I hold an honorary senior lecturer post at the University of Manchester, with research published/presented nationally and internationally.
