At the OrthTeam Centre we can perform a 3T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan. This uses magnets and radio waves to produce highly detailed three dimensional pictures of the inside of your body. It’s suitable for every part of the body, including bones, soft tissues (such as blood vessels, ligaments and muscles) and the brain, and so can help to diagnose and monitor many different medical conditions.
At the OrthTeam Centre we can perform an X-ray which is a quick and painless procedure used to diagnose many health conditions. It involves exposing part of the body to a small dose of ionising radiation (X-rays), which can take images of bones. You might need to have an X-ray to check one of your bones for a fracture or infection, a joint for damage or inflammation or soft tissue injury.
At the OrthTeam Centre we can perform an ultrasound. This is a scan that uses high frequency sound waves to create pictures of the inside of the body. Ultrasound can help diagnose tears in muscles and tendons, look at bleeding or fluid in muscles and joints, and examine ligaments and soft tissue.
At the OrthTeam Centre we have a dedicated fluoroscopy room where we provide fluoroscopic guided injections. This involves injecting medicine directly into the affected joint. These injections can help diagnose the source of pain, as well as relieving any discomfort.
At Spire Manchester Hospital, which is conveniently located on the same site as the OrthTeam Centre, we can perform computerised tomography (CT) scans. This is a non-invasive medical test that can help look for signs of inflammation, disease or cancer and monitor many other health conditions. It uses specialised X-ray equipment and a computer to create images of the inside of your body.
If you require any of the above, your specialist will discuss with you during your consultation.
